Owner, Mountain Song Yoga | E-RYT 500

For more than 25 years, yoga has been Shelle Kuntz’s anchor, guide, and pathway to greater strength, balance, and inner freedom. It has carried her through life’s most challenging seasons and taught her that yoga is about far more than what happens on the mat—it is a way of meeting life with awareness, grace, and an open heart.

Shelle’s journey into teaching began with a powerful moment during an Energy Medicine Yoga training in 2017. While moving through a pose known as Electric Warrior, she was invited to draw back an imaginary arrow, fill it with an intention, and release it into the universe. The words that arose surprised her: “I want to be out of the office.” In that instant, she recognized a truth she had been trying to quiet. Sixteen months later, she left her longtime career and began creating a life centered on yoga, mindfulness, and meaningful connection.

The name Mountain Song came to Shelle during meditation—a reflection of her love for the Rocky Mountains and her lifelong connection to music, vibration, and the grounding rhythms of the natural world.

Meet Shelle

It also gave form to a calling she had felt for years: to bring people, especially women across generations, together in a warm and welcoming space where they could slow down, reconnect, and feel at home.

As an E-RYT 500, Shelle has advanced training in Energy Medicine Yoga, Himalayan Kriya Kundalini, Qigong, SUP Yoga, Kids Yoga, and Prenatal Yoga. Her classes thoughtfully weave together movement, breath work, mindfulness, wisdom, music, and joy. Known for her wholehearted positivity and her gift for bringing love and light into any situation, Shelle creates practices that leave students feeling grounded, refreshed, empowered, and ready for whatever comes next.

At the heart of Shelle’s teaching is the belief that yoga is not about achieving a particular pose or fitting a particular image. It is a practice of discovering who we truly are, deepening our awareness, and carrying greater compassion into the world. She measures success simply: if something she shares helps even one person live a better life, the work has mattered.

Having lived and traveled around the world, Shelle brings deep respect for different cultures and ways of living to everything she teaches. As a fourth generation Montanan, she has called Whitefish, Montana, home since 2000, where she and her husband raised three independent-minded children and share life with their beloved golden retrievers. Away from the studio, she finds joy in gardening, hiking with friends, making music, volunteering, and spending time with her darling grandchildren.

Shelle believes that what we hold in our minds shapes the world we experience—and that each of us has the ability to create meaningful change by trusting our intuition and following what calls us forward. As one of her favorite sayings reminds her, “A candle doesn’t lose its light by lighting another candle.”

Through her teaching and community, Shelle is devoted to helping others recognize and share the light already within them.
